NAP Membership Exam
How to Join the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PARLIAMENTARIANS® (NAP):
- There is a basic membership exam you must pass to become a member of NAP. It is 100 questions based on the current edition of Roberts Rules of Order Newly Revised, 10th Ed. (RONR). A minimum score of 70% is required. You will definitely need to get a copy of RONR, which can be purchased at most bookstores in the State or online.
- The membership test is a combination of true/false, multiple choice and matching. All of the questions are selected from the 300 question study guide. The bound & printed version is available from NAP and includes the application form as well. Their toll free number is (888) 627-2929.
- Many of our Unit members are ready to help you study for your test as well as be available to serve as your proctor. Contact our President, Vice President or the Chair of our Membership Committee on our "Officers" page, and, if you are interested, come to a local unit meeting and meet our members. We enjoy seeing new faces and invite all to attend.
You can also study the questions in a new free online site 300questions.org.
- After you have studied and you are ready to take the test,
- Download, fill out the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PARLIAMENTARIANS® (NAP) Membership Application;
- Chose and contact a proctor (see #3 above), who will receive the test and contact you to take it on the pre-specified day you need to put on your application.
- Send in your application with a check for your national ($75) & Hawai'i State ($10) dues ($85 total) to NAP. You can also fax it in with a credit card payment. NOTE: the form also requires that you identify a local Unit (our Unit is "Aloha 'Ohana") or sign up as a Member at Large (MAL).
- There is no time limit fo the test, but the average time it takes to complete this test is 1 hour. The proctor will then seal your test and sends it back to NAP. You should hear the results within a few weeks!
